FAQs
Will upgrading my software or hardware void my vehicle’s warranty?
Vehicle warranties are not automatically voided by software or hardware upgrades. However, a manufacturer may decline a specific claim if a failure can be directly linked to aftermarket ECU or TCU software, or to installed hardware modifications. For added peace of mind, many owners choose to return their vehicle to its original software configuration prior to dealer servicing. While this may reduce risk, it does not guarantee invisibility. All calibrations are developed within engineered safety margins, but responsible ownership is always advised.
Will fuel economy improve after tuning?
In many cases, yes - particularly under normal driving conditions. Optimised ECU software improves torque delivery and overall engine efficiency. Because the engine produces more usable torque at lower RPM, less throttle input is often required to maintain speed. This can result in improved fuel consumption during everyday driving. However, increased performance often encourages more spirited driving - and fuel economy will naturally reflect that.
Why do turbocharged vehicles see larger performance gains?
Turbocharged engines respond exceptionally well to software optimisation because boost pressure, fuelling, and ignition timing are electronically controlled. By refining these parameters within safe operating tolerances, significant gains in power and torque can be achieved without mechanical changes. Naturally aspirated engines offer smaller improvements because they are not boost-assisted and have fewer adjustable performance variables. This is why modern turbocharged platforms typically deliver the most noticeable and cost-effective performance gains.
